Photos: Tauren Wells Emerges Top at the 2018 Dove Awards [See Full List]

The 49th Annual GMA Dove Award winners were announced on Tuesday during the awards ceremony at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville.

Writer and producer Colby Wedgeworth leads the Dove Awards with eight nominations, while artist Tauren Wells has seven nominations, including song of the year and new artist of the year.

The big winner was first-time serial nominee, newcomer Tauren Wells, who took home four awards, including Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year and New Artist of The Year. Cory Asbury and Songwriter Colby Wedgeworth took home three awards each.

The night was fiiled with many remarkable performances, including first time collaborations including Kirk Franklin and Tori Kelly, Jason Crabb and Rascal Flatts, as well as Natalie Grant and Koryn Hawthorne. Superstar Zach Williams took home Artist of the Year.

RCA Inspiration garners three wins as chart-topping artists Travis Greene, Koryn Hawthorne, and Marvin Sapp were honored for their hit songs this past year. Travis Greene won his first Dove Award in the category of Urban Worship Recorded Song of the Year for his chart-topper “You Waited.” Koryn Hawthorne won her first Dove Award in the category of Contemporary Gospel/Urban Recorded Song of the Year for her hit track “Won’t He Do It” (ft. Roshon Fegan). Marvin Sapp took home his second Dove Award, winning in the category of Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year for his hit single “Close.”

Matthew West Earns

Lunjeal Music Group independent recording artist Jekalyn Carr earned her first Dove Award win for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year for her Billboard #1 album One Nation Under God (Lunjeal Music Group/New Day). Matthew West also took home his first GMA Dove Award for Songwriter of the Year.

The awards was also televised on TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network) on Sunday, October 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
