A cleric, Rev. Fr.Lawrence Soja-Anyembugu , has advised Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to register in order to vote for leaders with proven integrity and unquestionable characters in the 2019 general elections.

Soja-Anyembugu, the priest-in-charge of St Sylvester Catholic Church, New Nyanya, Karu in Nasarawa, gave the advice on Monday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in the town.

He said that the importance of the voter card could not be over-emphasised in the socio-economic development of the country.

He described it as the only weapon the electorate could use to choose leaders of their choices.

“As the nation’s general election draws closer, I appeal to Nigerians who are eligible to vote to register and get their voter cards in order to vote God-fearing leaders and of proven integrity in the interest of national development.

“The electorate can only actualise their dreams for good governance if they vote leaders of proven integrity.

“They can only vote leaders of their choices when they register and have their voter cards.

“I want to call on Nigerians who are eligible to vote to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to register in order to vote for leaders of proven integrity and unquestionable characters, ” he said.

Soja-Ayembugu also advised them to shun corruption and other negative acts but show love and extend hands of friendship to the needy so that they could inherit the kingdom of God.

He also advised them to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and live in peace irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations in the overall development of the country.

“Nigerians must shun violence at all times but embrace peace and tolerate one another irrespective of our backgrounds in the interest of national development,” he said.

The priest also said that the citizens should always pray for their leaders so that they could succeed in the tasks of governing them according to God’s way.
