Nigerian pastor accused of molesting girls arrested at S’African airport

Tim Omotoso, a pastor accused of sexually molesting young girls who were members of his congregation, has been arrested.

Omotoso is a Nigerian televangelist and senior pastor of the Jesus Dominion International, based in Durban, South Africa.

According to South African Broadcasting Corporation, the Hawks, the country’s directorate for priority crime investigation, arrested Omotoso as he landed in Port Elizabeth on Thursday afternoon.

Heavily armed officers were said to have escorted him from the airport to the Hawks office, SABC reports.

The pastor was reportedly found hiding in the bathroom after he had initially fled from the officers.

Several young girls have accused the pastor of luring them into his home in Umhlanga where he allegedly molested them.

Some of the girls are said to be as young as 14.

A 26-minute documentary by SABC titled ‘Breaking The Silence’ first reported the alleged sexual molestation.

Omotoso is expected to appear in court on Friday.

The Nigerian cleric is also the founder of Tim Omotoso Global Outreach and Ancient of Day Broadcasting Network.
