1. Former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Tuesday advised President Muhammadu Buhari against seeking re-election in 2019. He also lambasted the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), for failing to solve Nigeria’s problems. Obasanjo, in a strongly-worded statement, subtly promoted what may become a political party, which he called Coalition for Nigeria, CN.

2. National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu has said that his visit to President Buhari was nothing out of the ordinary and has nothing to do with the statement issued by former president, Olusegun Obasanjo. A terse statement by Tinubu’s spokesman, Tunde Rahman, explained that the visit to Buhari was scheduled last week.

3. A former Minister of Education and Bring Back Our Girls, BBOG, Co-convener, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili was arrested and detained by the police yesterday. According to her tweet onTuesday morning said she was being detained in Abuja on the order of the president of Nigeria, Buhari. He was later released after series of reactions from well meaning Nigerians.

4. The Presidency on Tuesday said it will not comment on the letter released by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. When approached State House Correspondent on the matter, Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity, Garba Shehu, said the presidency will make no comment at the moment.

5. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reacted to the letter by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that President Muhammadu Buhari should not seek a re-election in 2019. The former ruling party described the letter as courageous, timeous and patriotic, adding that such has vindicated its position on President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC). PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan in a statement issued on behalf of the party also argued that the solution the nation’s problem was not to create a new political party as that will amount to making the same mistakes.

6. Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has reacted to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s statement advising President Muhammadu Buhari not to contest the 2019 election. Even though he agreed with the former president’s statement, he said what he said were almost the same as what he had been saying. He, however, argued that Obasanjo and Buhari were like the accuser & the accused and that both of them are analogue and do not represent the Nigeria of today.

7. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, on Tuesday told the Buhari-led government that the state was not interested in cattle colony. He also vowed that he will always defend the interest of Rivers State, and that he will not allow the state to be controlled by external forces.

8. Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President on Tuesday reacted to the burning of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olu Falae’s farm by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The former Vice President, in a statement by his Media Office described the attack as condemnable, saying it is a punishable under the law.

9. The All Progressives Congress, APC, says it will first review the content of Obasanjo’s statement before reacting, hence it will maintain seal lips at the moment. Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesperson for the APC, said the ruling party would respond at the right time and won’t rely just on what was being circulated in the media.

10. In sports, Super Eagles on Tuesday night defeated Equatorial Guinea in the ongoing CHAN tournament and booked a place in the quarter final of the competition. The Nigerian side who were shocked by a first-half goal by Equatorial Guinea returned in the second half to score three goals.
