Mohamed Salah is determined to end Liverpool’s title drought and is confident his impressive first campaign with the Reds can yield silverware.

The Egypt international has made a blistering start to life at Anfield, firing 20 goals for Jurgen Klopp’s side since his summer move from Roma.

And, speaking to Sky Sports News, Salah has highlighted the desire in the squad to convert their strong start to the season into trophies.

“We are working hard every day to win something and I am sure we will this year,” he said. “I am always saying I want to win titles here.

“I came here to win titles. To win something for the club, for us, for the fans. I would love to win something here.”

Before the destination of this season’s silverware is decided, Salah has the chance to clinch personal acclaim following his nomination for the African Player of the Year award.

Salah is vying with Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane for the continental honour, which is due to be announced on January 4.

There was no sign of rivalry from Salah, though, who gave a glowing account of Mane’s qualities both on and off the pitch.

“We are friends,” he added. “We are very close to each other. Maybe he is my closest friend here in the team.

“We are friends, we like each other, he’s a great guy and a fantastic player who is very fast with quality and confidence.

“I am very happy to share everything in Africa with him, so I’m very happy also for him.”
