Look Away, JOSE! GUARDIOLA Told MAN CITY Stars To Celebrate In Dressing Room After Leicester Win

The Premier League leaders beat the Foxes on penalties in the Carabao Cup, with the Spaniard urging his side to once again enjoy the moment

Pep Guardiola urged his Manchester City side to celebrate in the dressing room again after beating Leicester City, a matter of days after the controversy that surrounded their victory at Old Trafford.

The runaway Premier League leaders – who are currently 11 points clear at the top of the table – beat the Foxes on penalties after a 1-1 draw to progress to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

The tie was taken to extra time by a controversial Jamie Vardy penalty in injury time, which cancelled out Bernardo Silva’s opener, but both the England international and Riyad Mahrez missed from 12 yards in the shootout.

And that led to Guardiola telling his players to enjoy the moment in the dressing room, despite the tunnel fracas that followed City’s derby win over United on December 10 .

“I think it is a good sign for the club and that is why I am so happy,” he said. “What is important is how we react, so what if it is a penalty or not a penalty?

“It was the last minute so it was tough, especially with a lot of young players. Big teams you have to handle the bad moments and have to find situations.

“I said in the locker room to celebrate again.

“You have to wait to win the title and even in the position we are in you don’t know if we are able to win the Premier League.

“But in the process in the moment you have to celebrate always. We will enjoy it.”

City face Bournemouth next in the Premier League on December 23 before an away fixture at Newcastle United four days later.
