Libya Out To Demolish Sudan

The Mediterranean Knights of Libya will be gunning for a bronze medal when they meet Sudan in the 2018 CAF African Nations Champions third-fourth place play-off match on Saturday at the Stade de Marrakech.Kick-off is at 7:00pm (CAT).

Back in 2014 in South Africa, the Libya were crowned champions and have a chance two finish as No 3 in Morocco.

They finished as runner-up in Group C behind Nigeria after beating Equatorial Guinea and Rwanda, but lost to the Super Eagles.

Their progress saw them finishing with six points from two wins and one loss to secure a spot in the knockout stages.

In the Last Four, Libya defeated the Red devils of Congo via penalties as they booked a spot in the semifinals, but succumbed to a 3-1 loss against Morocco on Wednesday.

Shifting focus to the Falcons of Jediane, Sudan shocked the continent as they went toe-to-toe with Nigeria in the Last Four.

A 1-0 loss in the semifinals secured a spot in the third-place play-off game and they will be in high spirits heading to this clash.

They created a number of chances against Nigeria and their failure was to convert, but goalkeeper Oladele Ajiboye was the man who denied them on many occasions.

The Northern African-based side finished at No 2 in Group A after beating Guinea and Mauritania to end with seven points.

In their quarterfinal match, they rose to the occasion to stun the Chipolopolo of Zambia through a 1-0 win.

Furthermore, coach Zdravko Logarusic will lead his men to bag their 15th win over their opponents. The two nations have met 34 times with seven draws while Libya has 13 victories.
