The Governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode has congratulated the winner of the Lagos APC gubernatorial primary Jide Sanwo-Olu.

Ambode made this known at a press conference on Wednesday.

He promised to work with the party’s candidate to ensure victory for the party in 2019.

The NWC panel of the APC and the party’s leadership in the state had, after an initial disagreement, agreed on the result of the primaries that took place on Tuesday where Sanwo-Olu was declared winner.

Some Nigerians hailed Ambode for conceding defeat while others suggested that he has been offered Senatorial position by the ruling party. Here are some comments gathered:

@Mistabolu “We need more people like Governor Ambode in Nigeria… He has actually accepted defeat and endorsed Babajide Sanwo-Olu,Nice move.”

@Seyiwilliams “Ambode conceding defeat,That’s an honorable way to go.”

@Alamutuniyi “If Akinwunmi Ambode had gone into this contest with a magnanimous mindset with which he conceded his defeat then he would’ve been a sought after HERO, much more than his political Godfathers.”

@Seun_Obalola “History will never forget his courage against the so call landlord of lagos, everything that has a beginning will surely have an end, to those who believe dey own lagos good luck to them.”

@Als_Sadwari “It takes an honourable gentleman to accept such and ready to act accordingly.A lesson has learnt in hard way. Continuity acerta.”

@Dscribe55 “I think he should be given a senatorial ticket, it’s not fair at all!

@WoleAdegbule “That’s the spirit of sportsmanship! My challenge now is how Ambode would develop the effrontery to start campaigning for Jide whom he once indicted of spending fake dollars and a shareholder at Gbagada health center.”

@Obkishoka “Ambode has been promised an appointment or been warned by EFCC.”

@Certainty “If Ambode said this for real, this shows politics is not a do or affair to him. That shows maturity.”
