Female Cashier Sent To Prison For Stealing Students’ N1.4m School Fees

A female cashier with Tentring Musical School  Ogechi Ejiaku, 32, has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing the N 1.4m students’ school fees entrusted in her care by her employer.

Mr Akapo Emmanuel, the Proprietor of Tentring Musical School, Ajah, Lagos had petitioned the police over the matter.

The accused, a resident of Harmony Estate, Ajah, was arrested by the police at Ajah Division, Lagos and arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrate Court, Lagos on a two-count charge of felony to wit stealing.

Police counsel, Ben Ekundayo informed the Court that the accused committed the offence on 13 January, 2018 at Tentring Musical School.

Ekundayo told the court that the complainant reported to the police that he entrusted N1.4m to the accused paid by the students of Tentring Musical School for their school fees and hostel accommodation, but that instead, the accused converted the money for her use.

He said that the offences, the accused committed were punishable under sections 287 (7) and 280 (5) of the Criminal of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges in the open Court, and chief Magistrate A.A Adefulire granted her bail in the Sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adefulire Adjourned the case till 14 February, 2018 for mention and ordered that the defendant be kept at the Kirikiri prison, Apapa, Lagos till she fulfilled the bail conditions.
