It’s just a few days to the end of the year. There is a lot to reflect upon; both the good and ugly events that have occurred in the course of the year. In a world full of corruption, poverty, weak government institutions, greed and all sorts of menaces, most people have been have been looking forward for 2017  to come to a swift close so they can start a new year with new resolutions, goals and all of that. Not a bad idea, but the best thing to do during the final days of 2017 is to make the best of it. Who knows the good news that is hoping your way just before the year runs out.

  1. Ditch work during the holidays

The most important thing is spending time with family and friends during the holidays. Cherish every moment you have with everyone you are in contact with presently. Rekindle some relationships that might have faded because everyone is so busy trying to survive. The best of friends and family are those who, even after not meeting for years, give you a hug, hold intriguing conversations, and genuinely appreciate your company. In the light of this, 2017 will go out a lot of cheers.

 

  1. Invest in practicing the act of giving

Second to meeting with people, invest in practicing the act of giving. That is truly picking gifts for the individuals that you need to think about. You will notice that giving people something they can appreciate is so much better for you both than just going the easy route.

 

  1. Money

The end of the year needs to be a time when your financial stability is addressed. We know that a large chunk of our income usually is spent and goes away with the holidays as well at about this time. But asides spending, you could take advantage of some amazing cash back deals. Make sure you plan for the future now. You could take advantage of your talents and make some extra spending money for yourself instead of spending all of your income. Most importantly, you still have to save.

 

  1. Get healthy

Use the end of the year to develop healthy habits, because no time is harder to stick to them than the holidays. Form some unique but realistic goals that you know you can aim for, like not drinking all the fizzy drinks available in the fridge or opting for a healthier breakfast weeks leading to Christmas and maybe a ‘cheat’ day on the 25th and then, back to a healthy routine.

You could also use your vacation to go to some health and wellness workshops. Tag along with friends and do some group exercises. Blowing off the holiday-related stress will put you in a better mindset for 2018.

 

  1. Make a new tradition

Whether you are single or are spending the holidays with extended family, do something new this year. Sometimes breaking away from routine can be chaotic but it is also healthy to pull away from the normal way of doing things once in a while. Figure out ways to switch up the holidays.
