In an effort to end fuel scarcity in some parts of the region, officials of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), North West Zone, have shut down two filling stations in Zaria and Hunkuyi Local Government Areas of Kaduna State for selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at N190 per litre.

In a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Mallam Rabiu Bello, yesterday, the DPR said the Zonal Operations Controller, Alhaj Isah Tafida, led a team, accompanied by Civil Defence operatives to the stations, where he immediately directed a reversal to government’s approved price of N145 per litre, and monitored sales.

“As penalty, the companies were charged N100,000 per pump, to be paid directly into Federal Government’s Single Treasury Account (TSA). The stations were also suspended from lifting products for three months,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the Zonal Operations Controller appealed to the public to contact the DPR through telephone numbers provided on its website: http://www.dpr.org.ng, if malpractice at any filling station is observed.
