Car-Snatching Syndicate Smashed By Police In Port Harcourt

The Rivers state Police Command has dismantled a car-snatching syndicate operating in the old Aba road area of Port Harcourt.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni, disclosed this development to news sources in Port Harcourt.

Omoni said the deadly car-snatching syndicate are responsible for the numerous reports of car theft in Elekahia as well as the killing of one Patrick Rotimi.

He added that the gang of robbers were apprehended by the DPO of Miniokoro Police Station, CSP Ekaette Archibong.

“The suspects were arrested around 6pm on July 13 here in Port Harcourt. They are Ibrahim Usman from Bauchi state, Mohammed Adamu from Niger state, Victor James from Emohua in Rivers state and Mohammed Ya’Allah also from Bauchi state.

“On interrogation they made useful confessions which led to the recovery of three vehicles; a Lexus Jeep, Toyota Landcruiser Jeep and a Toyota Camry.

“The recovered Lexus Jeep is said to belong to late Patrick Rotimi who was robbed at gunpoint and shot by this gang on July 10 at Location road, Elekahia who later died on his way to the hospital. They also collected the sum of one million naira from him before he was shot.

“The robbers who are now at the State CID are responsible for the several car snatching operations in Rivers state,” he said.
