With the disturbing spike in the number of failed marriages globally, it is only fitting that God in His infinite mercies, will give someone the mandate to set up an organisation with the vision to make wholesome marriages common.

On the 23rd of September, 2017, BestHomes Inc. a family-focused initiative founded by Boluwatife Oladipupo, organised the third edition of her annual Workshop and Worship (#BWW3) themed Marriage On Purpose. The much anticipated event took place at David’s Court in Ikeja, Lagos and had a motley group of individuals in attendance ranging from Singles hoping to gain insights about the institution of marriage, to married couples looking for wisdom to fix their marital problems.

The one thing that was common to all was the expectation in their hearts.

Yours truly, anchored the red carpet event, and from my interaction with some of the attendees, it was clear that they all had expectations. Hosted by Omoo Anetekhai and Francesca Uriri, the event began with a thrilling performance by Amakason, a spoken word artist. Her poignant rendition was the perfect opener for the event.

At about some few minutes past 11 a.m. the first speaker; Africa’s Premier Life Coach, Lanre Olusola took to the stage to share deep wisdom on the Sixteen Most Potent Marriage Destroyers. Money matters, third parties, pride, spirit of unforgiveness are some of the most potent marriage destroyers, he expounded on.

He took some questions from the audience, amongst which was the question of what to do after a cheating incident. The life coach ended his session by encouraging the audience to make some declarations to re-affirm their self-love and confidence.

Monalisa Chinda-Coker was the next to take the stage in a sit-down question and answer session moderated by the inspiring founder of BestHomes Inc, Boluwatife Oladipupo alongside the audacious Francesca Uriri. The award-winning actress shared core lessons from her past marital experience of five years with ex-husband and how she survived verbal abuse.

She maintained that humility is that virtue that could potentially save any marriage in a red carpet interview shortly after her session.

The second keynote speaker was none other than the founder of The Real Woman Foundation, Nike Adeyemi. She started her session by sharing some profound knowledge about one of the key ingredients of marriage, love. She urged the singles present to marry for love. Using the story of Jacob and Rachael from the bible, she painted a vivid picture of the patience of love. She closed her substance-packed session with a word of prayer for healing and broken marriages.

The worship ministers, Pastor Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun and Victoria Orenze, literally brought down the Heavens with the most beautiful, intimate and transcendental worship sessions. It was indeed a beautiful time in God’s presence.

A team of Panelists consisting of Actor, Seun Ajayi; Mediawise Digital Agency partner, Isaac Oladipupo; Founder, The Kids Entrepreneurs Club Bowale Agboade; MD/CEO Media Panache Nigeria, Timilehin Bello; and Talent Resource Manager, Tecno, Bosun Bankole took to the stage to share their experiences and views on the institution that is marriage.

The event ended in the evening, and it is worthy to note that all through the duration of the event, no one seemed to notice time fly. Days could have passed and no one present at the event would have cared. Everyone present was too busy soaking in new wisdom and insight on marriage, not to mention, the beautiful worship experience.

While munching on the refreshments served at the event, I could not help but notice that the same people that came for the event were not the same people leaving. Something had definitely changed about them.

We say a massive thank you to the entire BestHomes Team, and we really can’t wait for the next edition of this defining gathering! For more updates, feel free to follow BestHomes on Instagram.
