Bolaji Abdullahi, 7 others withdraw from Kwara PDP governorship race

Former Spokesman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bolaji Abdullahi and seven other aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have withdrawn from the gubernatorial primary of the party in Kwara State.

The aspirants announced their withdrawal from the race at the ongoing primary election holding at Banquet Hall, Ilorin.Tribune reports.

Other aspirants who have withdrawn from the race were Dr Ali Ahmad, Alh Saka Isau, SAN, Alh Ladi Hassan, Ibrahim Ajia, Hon. Zakari Mohammed and Hon. Ahman Pategi.

The contest is now between House of Representatives member, Barr. Razak Atunwa from Kwara Central and Senator Sha’aba Lafiagi from Kwara north.

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed who was at the event, explained that the 8 aspirants withdrew from the race because of the party’s interest.

He thanked them for their act of magnanimity.

The governor also thanked the state’s political leader, Dr Bukola Saraki for his wise counselling and purposeful leadership, which have kept members of the PDP united in the state.

Recall that PDP cancelled its guber primary on Sunday following a confrontation between supporters of two leading aspirants.
