Bandits Raid Community In Niger State

Residents of Thaza community in Suleja, Niger state were shook with fear as some robbers said to be armed with sophisticated weapons raided the community in the early hours of Thursday.

Northern City News learnt that the hoodlums, numbering about 30, stormed the community in three buses at about 6.30am.

They were said to have blocked all the entrances and exits from the community before carrying out a house-to-house raid.

It was learnt that the criminals operated for more than two hours, dispossessing residents of money and other valuables.

It was also gathered that while the operation lasted, no security agency showed up to assist the victims.

At the end of the raid, the robbers were said to have escaped with cash estimated at millions of naira and other valuable items.

No life was lost, but some members of the community were said to have been admitted at the Suleja General Hospital for ‘shock.’

A victim, Saidu Abu, said he lost about N2m to the robbers, who, he said, also manhandled members of his family.

Abu, a trader, said he was unable to take the money to the bank on Wednesday because of the large number of customers at the bank.

According to him, the hoodlums threatened to kill him and his family members if he failed to part with the money.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Peter Sunday, confirmed the incident, but said, “I have yet to receive the details of the attack.”
