Award Winning Author, Chimamanda Adichie Calls Out Delta Airlines On Their Distasteful Treatment Of Local Customers

Award-winning author of ‘Half of A Yellow Sun’, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has called out Delta Airlines on their ridiculous policies and the shabby way they treat their Nigerian customers, as opposed to how they treat foreign customers.

The author was particularly displeased about Delta Airlines’ policy which requires that Nigerian flights passengers physically present themselves and their credit card after purchasing flight tickets online or over the phone. This, she said, is not required for Delta flights to other countries.

The mother-of-one told of an incident which happened in 2010 in which, though sick, she was required to physically present herself and the card she used in purchasing tickets online before her parents were allowed to travel. This led to them missing their flight. She went on to highlight multiple other occasions in recent years in which she has suffered the same treatment from this airline.

Asides their “crude” and “contemptuous” policy, Ms. Adichie also mentioned how unpleasant their staff are and how one disrespected her and her 2-year-old daughter.
