Apply! USAID/DRC’s Grants for Integrated Youth Development Activity

The goal of the Integrated Youth Development Activity is to increase youth resilience to conflict and violence in select areas of eastern DRC. For USAID, the term resilience is the ability of people, households, communities, countries, and systems to mitigate, adapt to, and recover from shocks and stresses in a manner that reduces chronic vulnerability and facilitates inclusive growth.
The United States Agency for International Development’s Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (USAID/DRC) is seeking applications for its “Integrated Youth Development Activity” from qualified and eligible organizations for a three-year, approximately $22.15 million activity that will increase youth resilience to conflict and violence in eastern DRC.

This activity will include approximately $17 million in Basic Education funding, $2.8 million in Higher Education funding, $1 million in Economic Growth funding, $600,000 in Family Planning funding, and $750,000 in Democracy, Human Rights and Governance (DRG) funding for civic education, citizen participation and public accountability.

The elements of the PYD Framework include:
Assets: Youth have the necessary resources, skills and competencies to achieve desired outcomes.
Agency: Youth perceive and have the ability to employ their assets and aspirations to make or influence their own decisions about their lives and set their own goals, as well as to act upon those decisions in order to achieve desired outcomes.
Contribution: Youth are engaged as a source of change for their own and for their communities’ positive development.
Enabling environment: Youth are surrounded by an environment that develops and supports their assets, agency, access to services and opportunities, and strengthens their ability to stay safe, secure, and protected without fear of violence or

Eligibility
-Qualified U.S. and non-U.S. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), U.S. -Private Voluntary Organizations (PVOs), and U.S. and non-U.S. for profit firms (provided they forgo profit) may participate in this funding opportunity.
-Applicants must have established financial management, monitoring and evaluation, internal control systems, and policies and procedures that comply with established U.S. Government standards, laws, and regulations.
-The successful Applicant(s) will be subject to a responsibility determination assessment that may entail a pre-award survey, by the Agreement Officer (AO).
-USAID welcomes applications from organizations which have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
-Applicants are encouraged to utilize local expertise and local institutions whenever possible in implementing the program.
-Applicants are limited to submit only one application in response to this NOFO.
