Apply! Grants For Theme Climate, Change

Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation is seeking applications to award grants that support scientific research or artistic work and grants to support projects addressing this theme in the fields of social well-being, culture, environment and science as well as supporting and promoting research and education purposes in these fields.

The theme of the 2018 application cycle is Climate, Change.

Categories
There are two main categories for application entries:
Research Grants: The Foundation grants both non-defined reasearch grants and yearly or half yearly working grants for scientific work. Non-defined grants for scientific research may be applied e.g. for conferences, to partly fund a research or for research that takes a shorter time than a year or half a year. Research grants may be awarded from the PhD research stage onwards.
Other Grants: Other grants may be applied for artistic activities or for projects relating to the theme in the fields of social well-being, culture, environment and science as well as supporting and promoting research and education purposes in these fields.

Funding
-Year-round working grant for artistic work and scientific research totals 24 000 euros and for post-doc research work 28 000 euros. The year-round grant is intended for full-time work for the period of one year and required to be free from gainful employment.
-A half-year grant totals 12 000 euros for artistic work and scientific research or, respectively 14 000 euros for post-doc research work. It is intended for a period of six months of full-time work without simultaneous income from employment.

Eligibility
-Applications are accepted from all nationalities.
-Grants can be applied by individuals, members of working groups or on behalf of an entity.
-Grants can be applied for activities organised in Finland or internationally, with the precondition that the project has a connection of some nature with Finland.
-The application can be submitted in Finnish, Swedish or English.
-The foundation wishes to particularly encourage applicants whose work demonstrates one or more of the following:
–Multi-disciplinary or multi-sectoral features: Projects that are carried out in cooperation with one or more parties. The foundation appreciates unprejudiced models of cooperation.
–Engagement: A good project is one that engages people in the process of developing solutions to matters that are relevant to them.
–Operating models that can be copied: The foundation appreciates operating models that will have a positive impact on future projects by handing over the developed operational model for copying or scaling purposes. It is a good idea to have the goal of ensuring continuity recorded in the project plan.
–New operating models: The foundation seeks and wishes to promote new kinds of approaches and solutions to problems in society. An excellent project includes the creation of a new operating model that is easy to copy.
