Application
Stage 1: Candidate application (Deadline: 12:00 GMT 30 November 2017)
Candidates apply via an online application system and may select up to three supervisors they are interested in studying with from across the Institute’s partner universities.
Candidates will need a minimum of 2 references.
Stage 2: Application triage
Applications are reviewed by the Institute for completeness, accuracy and eligibility.
Candidates who fail to meet the award criteria will not be shortlisted.
Stage 3: Supervisor shortlisting
Supervisors will receive applications of candidates interested in studying with them (if the application has passed the initial review above). Applications will include the names of all supervisors selected by the candidate.
Supervisors will select candidates they wish to interview and contact them directly to arrange an in-person, telephone or Skype interview to discuss possible projects.
If a supervisor wishes to support a student for further consideration by the Institute, they will need to submit a supporting statement, and a project proposal jointly written with the candidate, to the Institute.
Where a student is short-listed by multiple supervisors, the student is advised to speak to supervisors about possible co-supervision. A candidate may only be supported by one supervisor (or co-supervised on one project).
If you do not hear from your proposed supervisor(s) by 22 January 2018, you may assume that your application has been unsuccessful.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview early February 2018.
Stage 5: Interviews (to be held at The Alan Turing Institute, London)
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a 2-day interview programme which will take place at the Institute’s headquarters at the British Library on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 February 2018.
Candidates will be expected to keep both days free. Further details will be provided if invited to interview.
