Abuja-Okene highway overtaken by flood

Yesterday, The Abuja-Okene highway was flooded due to the heavy downpour that happened in the early hours of the day.

The downpour which started at about 5:30 am caused the water at Nataco-Sarki Noma to overflow to the highway.

Travellers were stuck and stranded as the lane was blocked.

TopNaija.ng also gathered that the rain caused heavy gridlock from Galilee to the Lokoja International Market, Felele express way and Nataco-Abuja highway leaving pedestrians with no other choice than to walk in the water to their destinations bare-footed.

The floods forced roadside marketers to vacate as they had no place to stay to transact business.

As at the time of filing this report, only trucks were able to make headway while motorcyclists and tricyclists were at a standstill.

However, security personnel were on ground to ease traffic.
