7 steps to being self-empowered

Published

on

No one is born feeling self-empowered. Confidence is learned. Everyone has fears and insecurities but some create a confident façade. Nobody feels perfect but some of us magnify our flaws more than others. You can empower yourself, step by step, with patience and determination.

See 7 rules for empowerment:

  1. Smile

Smile with your whole body and mind. This means: welcome and be open to your ideas, thoughts and actions. This is an act of complete openness.

  1. Believe in yourself

You believe because you know what you have done before was successful. Focus on what worked and what was good. No dream is too big or to bold to attain. In fact dream, even when they are not accomplished, make you a more determined, driven person and set you on a path to success in general. When you believe in your ability to accomplish your dreams, the more likely you are to actually follow through with it. It does not have to be big and smart and beautiful. Just enough to know you can rely on it to take the next step.

  1. Take Responsibility

Take responsibility for your thoughts. It’s your choice to adopt criticism from others as your perception of who you are. Allowing criticism from others to rule your thoughts reflects in your behavior. You can choose to brush off criticism and feel good about yourself.

  1. Communicate

Talk to yourself, your spouse, friends and neighbors about what makes it worthwhile to go on with your idea, to put all that effort into it, to stay focused on this particular issue for so long. When your intuition is constantly in the green zone despite difficult questions, you know there is nothing that can stop you.

  1. Support

Create a support team. Be friends with someone who is also trying to improve. Talk every day, positively. Cheer each other on or create an informal group of people who meet to encourage each other. Call one when you are struggling. We benefit from helping each other. Invite pep talks from friends about why you should be empowered.

  1. Celebrate

Allow yourself to be happy about your tiny results. Write it down, buy yourself an ice cream, go for a dinner, just make yourself feel on the inside that you are doing the right thing.

  1. Pep Talks

Give self-pep talks. Affirm in a mirror that you are good enough. Recite your positive qualities. Support yourself as you do others. When nervous, repeat, “You can do it” until you calm down.Tell yourself how terrific you are. It encourages taking a positive step.
