LinkedIn, the social network for the working world with more than 500 million members that is now owned by Microsoft, recently released an Android app for LinkedIn Lite, a pared-down version of its original LinkedIn mobile app that is developed for users in markets where data networks are slower and relatively more expensive for consumers, and phones are slower.

At less than 1MB (604kb), LinkedIn Lite is one of the smallest sized apps among other Lite apps such as Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite, Skype Lite and Twitter lite. Before now, it was only available in India, but, Linkedin’s lite app is now accessible in a number of Middle East and North Africa markets, including Nigeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia.

With the Lite App, you can:

  • Search for people, alumni, seniors, jobs, and companies.
  • Connect with people.
  • Chat with your connections.
  • Edit your profile to include your education, skills and more.
  • Get the latest industry news and updates.
