3 basic ways to Developing Discipline for a successful life

Published

on

To fulfill any goal you need to have a clear path, whether it is a happy life or a successful business. You need to be sure about what you are going to do and how you are going to do that.  The important question here is ‘What should drive you to your goal?’ The general answer to that is motivation BUT motivation is not what will take you to success. Discipline is what will help you in the long run. It is about believing in the core value that what you want to achieve is important to you. This is the fuel that will keep you going and drive your commitment towards your goal. How do you keep yourself going all the time? How do you motivate yourself? The difference is that when you are dedicated to a goal you do it anyway. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.

Discipline focuses on what to do. It is your ability to do what is right and to always improve yourself and be the best version of yourself. Discipline is more of thinking and reasoning that shape your thoughts and eventually your actions. It gives you the direction as to where you want to move. When you are disciplined, you know how to use your strengths and even your weaknesses to your benefit.

See 3 secrets to rapidly developing discipline;

  1. Create Your WHY

You must find out why you are starting in the first place. You must find out the reason for doing all of this. When you have found what it is you want, again, ask yourself why several times.

For example; I want to lose weight – why – because I can’t wear the clothes that I want.

  1. Create Your Support Network

Anyone who gives you reasons why you should not do something is not good for you. You need to make a decision. Do you want to finally get what you want or are you happy to keep failing because you couldn’t say no? You should be hanging out with people who are supportive of your goals. You are the average of the five people you hang out with the most. Find five like-minded people and have them keep you accountable.

  1. Remind Yourself Everyday

What’s the use of having a goal if you don’t keep reminding yourself about it? You need to keep reminding yourself what it is you are after, and why you are after it. Have those goals written and posted on the door of the refrigerator, as your phone screensaver, in your daily journal and above all etched in your mind with indelible ink.

Remember, discipline is greater than motivation. You have really got both but discipline is the only thing standing between you and your goals.
