12 things time efficient people do

Published

on

Time is that special thing we all want more of. It doesn’t discriminate and equally resets every 24 hours for everyone. Time management is a crucial skill for anyone who is trying to accomplish big things. You need to be aware of where your time is being allocated to and where time leaks. The saying, “Make every second count” takes on a new meaning when you start placing a value on your time.

Here’s some of the things time efficient people do:

  1. Time Track

You need to know where you are spending every minute of the day. Start a log of how many minutes or hours it takes for you to complete a task.. If you don’t know where you are starting from then you won’t be able to make the appropriate adjustments for time efficiency.

  1. Delegate or Automate

If there is a task at hand that you want to tackle, ask yourself two questions can I delegate it or automate it? Any small mundane task that can be passed along will free up your time to pursue things that can help you better serve others. If the tasks cannot be delegated or automated then you need to honestly ask yourself do I really need this in my life?

  1. Use Your Alarm and Calendars

Don’t try to remember everything, thanks to technology, so utilize them to help you create a more organized life. By using alarms, reminders and calendars it frees up your brain space in order to fully focus on other things.

  1. Stay Organised

The easier it is for you to find things, the less time you will waste searching for where you last left that notebook or important document. If being organized is not a strong skillset then hire someone or an assistant.

  1. Create Healthy Habits

When we create healthy habits it makes our lives easier. Many of us spend a lot of time driving in traffic. You can create a habit of being in silent or listening to audio-books while in traffic.

  1. Wake Up Early

When you get onto the battlefield early you accomplish more since you had a head start from everyone else. Waking up earlier than the rest of the world gives you sheer silence to pursue what you want to do without interruptions.

  1. Utilize The Weekends

When most of the world is lounging around on the weekends sipping mimosas, you can actually get things done. There’s less distractions, less emails and phone calls requiring you to put out office fires.

  1. Keep Social Media and Emails At Bay

In the morning when you first wake up, the first thing is not to check your social media feeds. It’s easy to get sucked into the scroll through motion and next thing you know you have lost 30 precious minutes indulging in someone else’s life.

  1. Tackle the Toughest Task First

When you are faced with a hard task make sure that you tackle that first. By leaving it for last it will actually drain more time out of your schedule.

  1. Be Intentional

Make sure you are doing things with a purpose. Have a clear starting point and an end goal. When you go through the steps of creating your strategy make sure that you stay focus on the end game.

  1. Make a List

Start a list of things you need to do daily. Prioritize them and keep it in a place that you can easily see. Don’t spend a lot of time creating this list. Just quickly jot down the things you need to do at the end of every day.

  1. Saying No is the Way to Go

Know when to say no to people, tasks, or projects. You want to be focused on where YOU want to spend most of your time. So if there’s something that comes your way and it doesn’t serve your ultimate goal it’s okay to say no.
