  1. Ahead of the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirant in the state, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, yesterday defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Adeyeye, a former minister of state for works, who announced his resignation from the PDP some weeks ago, said on Tuesday that he was joining forces with the APC and its candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to rescue the state.

  1. The Kaduna State Police Command, on Tuesday said that three people were killed and four others injured by suspected cattle rustlers in Kurega village in Chikun Local Government areas which shares boundary with Birnin Gawri local government in Kaduna State.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhktar Aliyu said the criminals carted away some cows after the attack, but added that the police were on the trail of the rustlers.

  1. The Benue State Police Command, on Tuesday, said it has uncovered an illegal local gun factory in Oju Local Government Area of the State.

The State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, made this disclosure when he led his men to the site of the factory located at Amyuwogbu-Ibilla in Oju where the suspect was apprehended.

  1. Traders in Ebonyi who obverse the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra today, Wednesday, May 30, will permanently forfeit their shops, Governor David Umahi said on Tuesday.

Umahi, who made the declaration in Abakaliki while addressing the people at the 2018 democracy day celebration, noted that such order would not be observed in the state.

  1. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state, Tuesday exonerated President Muhammadu Buhari from the herdsmen killings in the state, stressing that those linking the president to the attacks were being mischievous.

He recalled that the herdsmen crisis predated the present administration, assuring that the people of the state would still support the President in the coming 2019 general elections despite the losses and pains they suffered as a result of the herdsmen incursions in the state.

  1. Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose on Tuesday said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has devised another sinister plot to disenfranchise thousands of eligible voters in areas considered as strongholds of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Fayose in a statement he personally signed said the APC was allegedly working in collaboration with some unscrupulous elements in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to delete not less than 40 percent names from the Voter Register, using the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) as a decoy and
targeting Ado Ekiti, the State capital and Ikere Ekiti where the PDP candidate comes from.

  1. Former Deputy Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Chief Joseph Adesokan has died at the age of 82.

One of his children, Segun Adesokan, a lawyer and former Special Adviser on Due Process to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, confirmed his death to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday.

Report said the victims were allegedly shot by unidentified persons after a caucus meeting held by a faction of elders of the community over the tussle.

The minister gave the directive to Chief Medical Officers of all federal government owned hospitals late Monday night.

The war broke out between Agbaduma, Abugbe and Aila communities in Agatu over ownership of land and fish ponds in the area.
